Privacy Policy

TL;DR: Chef Evelyn never asks who you are — no name, email, account, location, ads ID, photos, or contacts. The only thing our server keeps is an anonymous app ID used to count your free recipes and remember if you've subscribed; it isn't linked to your identity. We send your recipe selections (e.g. "Italian, vegetarian, 30 minutes") and any free-text notes you type to our AI partner to make the recipe. That's it.

What this policy covers

This policy explains how the Chef Evelyn Android app, iOS app, and the website at chef-ev.online (together, "the Service") handle data. It is written in plain English because part of our audience is children.

What we don't collect

We never ask for, and never store:

No name, email address, phone number, postal address, or birthday.
No precise location, GPS coordinates, or map data.
No photos, microphone audio, camera access, or contacts.
No advertising identifier and no ad networks.
No account or login — there is no sign-up.
No third-party analytics, no Google Analytics, no Firebase Analytics, no Crashlytics, no Facebook SDK.

The one identifier we do use

To give every device a fair number of free recipes, and to remember whether you've subscribed, our server stores anonymous identifiers tied to your app install — not to you personally:

A random device ID generated by the app. It is wiped if you uninstall.
An install ID derived from your device as a one-way hash. It lets us count free recipes consistently even if the app is reinstalled (so the free allowance can't simply be reset). It cannot be reversed back into any device or personal detail.
If you subscribe, the subscription receipt from Google Play, so we can confirm your subscription is active.

None of these are linked to your name, email, or any account — we hold none of those. We use Google Play Integrity and Google Play Billing, which are Google services, not third-party trackers.

What gets stored on your device

The app keeps a few things on your phone or tablet, not on any server:

Your last form choices (course, cuisine, diet, etc.) so the app remembers them next time.
Any short note you typed into the Notes field.
Recipes you tap Save on — they live on your device only.

Removing the app deletes everything. There is no cloud backup or sync of this data (unless your phone's own settings back it up via iCloud or Google Drive — that's your device, not us).

What we send to our server when you tap "Generate"

When you ask for a new recipe, the app sends our server (chef-ev.online) the choices you made — for example: "course=main, cuisine=italian, diet=vegetarian, time=30–60 min, complexity=medium" — plus any short free-text notes you typed.

Our server then asks an AI service to write a recipe based on those choices. The AI service we use is MiniMax (minimaxi.com), operated by Shanghai Xiyu Technology Co., Ltd. Their privacy policy governs what they do with the prompts our server sends them.

Our server does not store your IP address. We do briefly use the connection's IP to look up which country you're in (so the recipe suggests ingredients you can actually buy locally), but the IP itself is thrown away immediately — only the country code is used, only in memory. Our web-server access logs are configured to drop the IP, too.

We log a unique request ID (a random number), the country code (e.g. "GB"), the cuisine chosen, and how long the request took. The request also carries the anonymous app IDs described above, so we can keep your running count of free recipes. Nothing that identifies you personally.

Children's privacy

Chef Evelyn is designed to be safe for children, including those under 13.

We do not collect names, emails, accounts, or contact details from anyone, child or adult — only the anonymous app ID described above.
There is no chat, no social features, no comments, no user accounts.
There is no advertising of any kind.
The Notes field is sent to our AI partner — please remind children not to type personal details (names, addresses, school names) into it. We have no way to filter those server-side.

This Service is intended to comply with the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the UK age-appropriate design code, and the EU GDPR-K provisions for children's data. If you are a parent and have any question, contact us at the email below.

Cookies and tracking

The website at chef-ev.online does not set any cookies, does not use any tracking pixels, and has no third-party analytics scripts. The mobile apps follow the same standard.

Your rights

We hold no name, email, or account for you, so there is nothing identity-based to request, correct, or delete. The only data tied to your install is the anonymous app ID and your free-recipe count. To wipe what the app stored on your device, uninstall it. To have the usage record on our server deleted, email us at the address below and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change what data the Service collects or processes, we will update this page and bump the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will also be flagged on the homepage.
